Question
How is Wales performing in relative terms with regard to the number of students from disadvantaged backgrounds who (i) apply and (ii) are successful in their applications for university places?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Education and the Welsh Language
Data on university applications and acceptances is available via the University and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS), including data by Indices of Multiple Deprivation. Wales, England, Scotland and Northern Ireland all produce their own Indices of Multiple Deprivation, and whilst these datasets are based on the same concept and general methodology, the indices are not directly comparable.
