Question
Further to WQ89206, will the Minister state how much subsidy has been provided in 2021-22, 2022-23, and 2023-24 separately?
Answer
Answered by Deputy Minister for Climate Change
The Transport for Wales revenue rail subsidy (for all services in Wales & Borders) for the last two financial years was:
• 2022/23 £262,170,000
• 2021/22 £281,219,000
The subsidy is calculated by subtracting revenue from ticket sales from the cost of operating services. It will not be possible to calculate the subsidy for 2023/24 until after the end of the financial year.
