Question
Will cuts to school building budgets have an impact on repairing schools currently identified as having reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete present?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Education and the Welsh Language
The £40m reduction in this year’s Sustainable Communities for Learning (SCfL) programme should be taken in the context of the £300m per annum budget made available to the programme. This represents an increase of nearly 33% when compared to the 2021/22 baseline programme budget.
The SCfL Programme is moving to a Rolling Programme of investment and my officials are working closely with local authorities and further education institutions on their strategic plans for the next nine years. In instances where local priorities are required to change as a result of RAAC being identified, officials will assist local authorities and further education institutions in revising their strategic plans.
