Question
Will the Minister detail the proportion of Glastir contract holders who are set to receive an increase in financial support as a result of participating in the Habitat Wales Scheme and the proportion who are set to see a reduction?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Rural Affairs and North Wales, and Trefnydd
The Habitat Wales Scheme and Glastir are not directly comparable. The Habitat Wales Scheme payment rates and management actions have been simplified. As a result, most existing Glastir contract holders will see a reduction in payments if they choose to enter the Habitat Wales Scheme. For some, this will be accompanied by a reduction in costs to meet the simplified contract requirements, for instance, no requirement to plant unsprayed spring cereals and root crops.
Successful applicants not currently participating in Glastir will receive an increase in financial support as a result of participating in the Habitat Wales Scheme.
