Question
Will the Minister outline what additional funding is given to local authorities, intended for home educated children?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Education and the Welsh Language
The Welsh Government is providing local authorities with additional funding of £1.7 million a year, over a 3-year period, to support local authorities with the implementation of the new Elective Home Education (EHE) guidance, and to develop and provide a wider package of support for home-educating families. The package of support will increase educational opportunities for EHE children, enhance their learning and encourage greater access to universal services.
This funding is unique to Wales and feedback from EHE families, representative groups and local authorities has been very positive regarding its impact on the ground, and in supporting EHE children’s education.
