Question
What action is the Minister taking to encourage young people to take up a career as a butcher?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Rural Affairs and North Wales, and Trefnydd
The Welsh Government funded Skills for Success programme actively engages schools in raising awareness and promoting careers in the food industry including butchery and meat processing. The programme works with industry and Hybu Cig Cymru to deliver training courses in this skilled area of work. Meat processing is a large employer in Wales and it is essential that the workforce is sustained and developed and the careers must be attractive to young people.
