Question
What discussions has the Welsh Government had with South Wales Police regarding the serious assault that took place in Aberfan on 5 December 2023?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Social Justice and Chief Whip
Policing is reserved to the UK Government and this was an operational issue dealt with by South Wales Police. My thoughts are with those affected by this sad incident.
South Wales Police provided me with regular, timely operational briefing on the issue as the situation unfolded. Additionally, Welsh Government officials liaised closely with the CEO of the Local Authority to further increase our understanding of the situation.
