Question
Will the Minister provide the number of adults in Wales that were exempt from NHS dentistry charges in each of the last 5 years?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Health and Social Services
Statistics on the number of courses of treatment recorded for adults who are exempt from NHS dentistry charges for the last 5 years are published on StatsWales. Data for the last 5 years is as follows:
2018/19
2019/20
2020/21
2021/22
2022/23
701,396
666,888
130,738
237,408
313,117
Note that the same patient may have multiple courses of treatment in a year, therefore the number of courses of treatment does not equal the total number of patients treated. Statistics on patient-level exemption status are not currently available.
