Question
What assessment has the Minister made of attendance hubs as a way to boost school attendance?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Education and the Welsh Language
We are considering ways that we can strengthen our school to school and cluster collaboration and particularly how we can draw on the expertise of other key services who have a crucial role to play in improving attendance, such as health, social services and voluntary sector agencies.
The sharing of this good practice remains key, and we already have a number of mechanisms in place to facilitate this, including Family Engagement Officers and Community Focused Schools Managers networks. Local authorities also have various ways of sharing good attendance practice with schools, including attendance forums, cluster meetings, forums and school to school mentoring.
