Question
What assessment has the Welsh Government made of the impact of their plans to cut the clean energy budget from £9.7 million to £2.8 million in the 2024-2025 draft budget, considering the UK Government's plans to boost the nuclear energy sector?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Climate Change
The changes to the clean energy revenue budget reflects a reclassification of expenditure from revenue to capital so do not represent an absolute reduction as described in the question. The clean energy revenue budget does not fund Welsh Government activity in nuclear energy.
The UK’s plans for the nuclear energy sector do not provide Wales with the clarity we need to take effective decisions for communities in Wales.
