Question
Will the Minster provide an update on what promotion campaigns Cadw is currently running?
Answer
Answered by Deputy Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism
In addition to a high-profile summer marketing campaign, Cadw runs Google Search advertising throughout the year to drive visitor numbers and grow its membership scheme. The successful Christmas gift membership campaign in December secured 370 new memberships. Cadw has nearly 60,000 members and the scheme continues to grow year on year.
Cadw runs ongoing campaigns across digital and traditional media to raise awareness of its fantastic monuments, such as the ongoing social media content about the conservation project at Caerphilly Castle.
A range of ticket and membership promotions are also run throughout the year with external partners – for example Tesco – to widen the reach of communications and attract more visitors to sites.
Cadw will soon be releasing its influencer campaign ahead of the school half-term holidays, promoting Blaenavon and Castell Coch to the family market, and it is finalising its plans for the 2024 spring and summer campaigns.
