Question
What initial assessment has the Minister made of pressures that faced the Welsh NHS in light of the junior doctors' strikes that took place from 07:00 on Monday 15th January and ended on 07:00 on 18th January?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Health and Social Services
NHS Wales organisations planned effectively for this disruption of services. Winter pressures continued with most acute hospital sites having increased demand compared to the same time period last year. The biggest impact was on elective care services with the postponement of outpatient appointments and operations at around 41% and 62% respectively.
