Question
Will the Minister provide an update on what funding is available for cinemas to rebuild their audiences?
Answer
Answered by Deputy Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism
Under the arm’s-length funding principle, the Arts Council of Wales (ACW) provides Welsh Government funding support to independent cinemas where they are a key part of a multi-arts community building. Organisations with a cinema who receive continued support include Chapter Arts Cardiff, Aberystwyth Arts Centre, Theatr Mwldan, Pontio Arts Bangor, Galeri Caernarfon and others.
ACW has also provided capital funding support to Pontardawe Arts Centre to build a new cinema as an extension to the main building.
