Question
How does the Minister plan to directly address the fact that some schools and other settings don't know their communities well enough and therefore can’t plan effective support for low-income pupils, in light of the Estyn chief inspector’s annual report?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Education and the Welsh Language
Our ambition is for all schools in Wales to be Community Focused Schools - responding to the needs of their community, building a strong partnership with families and collaborating effectively with other services. We have invested £6.5m in increasing the number of family engagement officers this year and continue to fund a trial of community focused schools managers, who work on developing better engagement between schools and their communities.
