Question
Will the Minister confirm whether there is a minimal level of bin collection timings recommended by health authorities for the purposes of maintaining public health?
Answer
Answered by Minister for Climate Change
As set out in the Welsh Government’s Collections Blueprint, it is the responsibility of local authorities and contractors to ensure that high standards of health and safety are achieved and maintained during collections of waste and recyclables, irrespective of the method of collection employed. The Blueprint also sets out the guidance for weekly collection of food waste, with universal food waste collection having been rolled out across Wales. The Welsh Government has also provided funding for the roll-out of the separate collection of Absorbent Hygiene Products.
