Question
What plans does the Minister have to address the fact that Transport for Wales train services accounted for more than a million minutes worth of delays in 2023?
Answer
Answered by Deputy Minister for Climate Change
Many cancellations and delays are due to issues not within Transport for Wales’ control, with Network Rail responsible for almost half of the delays to Transport for Wales services. Transport for Wales’ rail service performance is significantly better in the first months of 2024 compared to 2023. This will continue to improve as more of the brand new trains are rolled out across all of Wales and the borders as part of our £800m investment in an entirely new fleet.
