Question
Will the Cabinet Secretary confirm when changes to the regulations of air source heat pumps will be made, in line with point 6 of the conclusions to the Welsh Government's Phase 2 report, so that the prohibition for installing a pump 3 metres away from a properties boundary is reduced?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Housing, Local Government and Planning
We are currently reviewing a range of permitted development rights which includes looking at how air source heat pump regulations can be simplified to support more widespread uptake of the technology. Officials are preparing a provisional timetable setting out when any changes could come into effect.
The Welsh Government’s research, and ongoing UK Government work, will inform any future changes to permitted development rights in Wales.
