Question
What consideration has the Cabinet Secretary given to allowing SMEs that have been awarded contracts for difference, low-cost capital to assist with the upfront costs required to deliver their projects successfully in Wales?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Welsh Language
The Contracts for Difference (CfD) scheme is actively supported and championed through procurement support, provided through programmes such as Sell 2 Wales and Business Wales. However, we do not provide direct financial government support to SMEs involved in delivering projects awarded funding under the CfD schemes, as this could have a negative impact on the amount of funding they are able to access from the CfD scheme, thus not delivering any added value.
