Question
Will the Cabinet Secretary explain how the speed at which further education providers can amend or adapt their courses can be improved so that regulation surrounding accreditation does not block necessary skills development?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Education
Qualifications Wales’ vocational qualifications strategy ensures that awarding bodies, colleges, employers and professional bodies work together closely to ensure that qualifications are appropriate to learner and employer needs. A robust qualifications strategy is essential to ensure consistency of learners’ experiences and outcomes across Wales, and that learners develop the skills and competences to be effective in their chosen career path. Within the overall qualification structure, colleges and providers have flexibility to use their professional expertise to determine the best approaches to teaching and learning, and we encourage colleges to be creative and innovative in how they deliver courses and develop learners’ skills.
