Question
What action is the Cabinet Secretary taking to encourage major cultural events to take place in Wales?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Welsh Language
The Welsh Government already supports a portfolio of major cultural events across Wales, including Artes Mundi and Other Voices, and works closely with stakeholders to develop and grow new event proposals.
For example, Cardiff Music City Festival, taking place for the first time later this year, has been developed in collaboration with Cardiff Council and a range of cultural partners. Another ‘home-grown’ event supported by Welsh Government, Focus Wales music festival, is now internationally recognised.
