Question
What adjustments are planned for people with sight loss in the context of the real-time information system that the Welsh Government’s Roadmap to Bus Reform states will be rolled out to provide information at bus stops through digital displays and QR codes, given these are inaccessible to people with vision impairments?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for North Wales and Transport
As set out in the Roadmap to Bus Reform, Transport for Wales are widening their Accessibility and Inclusion Panel to make sure we can speak to people sharing a wide variety of protected characteristics and understand their needs when delivering franchised bus services. We will work with local authorities to support them to make improvements to the accessibility of bus stop infrastructure on the basis of this engagement. We are ensuring that real-time information feeds are compatible with text-to-speech software so an audio announcement option is available.
