Question
Will the Cabinet Secretary outline how the Welsh Government is working with Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board to reduce waiting times for gastroenterology appointments and eliminate waits over two years?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care
Through the regular monitoring of specialities over two years, we have challenged the health board on its gastroenterology first outpatient appointment waits. The NHS Executive has been tasked with working with the health board to improve its performance. This will include sharing learning from other health boards.
As of March 2024, Betsi Cadwaladr UHB is the only health board with over two year waits at the first outpatient stage in gastroenterology.
