Question
What new support will the Welsh Government offer to the Tata workforce in Port Talbot and across downstream sites in Wales?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for the Economy, Transport and North Wales
The Welsh Government has supported Tata Steel over many years. We continue to engage with the company on how we can continue to support both the Company and its employees.
We have supported Tata Steel and its workforce in Wales for many years. Approximately £25m has been made available to provide employability and skills support to those impacted by Tata Steel’s decision. Welsh Government employability and skills support will continue to be available to support those Tata employees who wish to remain in the labour market.
The Personal Learning Account Tata targeted intervention will continue in the 2024/25 academic year, to support Tata workers and those in the supply chain.
Under our devolved powers, we continue our engagement with the Company on how we can support its workforce across Wales.
