Question
By when does the Commission envisage Members and staff will be able to preset the Table Office system homepage for tabling parliamentary business to Welsh?
Answer
Answered by Senedd Commission
The Commission has recently assumed responsibility for the technical development of the Table Office system from an external vendor. Currently, we are transitioning ownership, with our developers establishing the infrastructure required to facilitate future improvements internally. This will enable the Senedd Commission to deploy and release updates more efficiently.
While users can select their preferred language when logging into the Table Office, the system does not yet retain a user's language selection across different sessions. Incorporating a feature to remember the user’s language preference is part of our scheduled enhancements for the system, in addition to other upgrades suggested by Table Office users.
To minimise risk to the continuity of Senedd business, changes are released during recess periods when usage is low. We anticipate this change being included in a release before the end of this calendar year.
