Question
What steps is the First Minister taking to prepare for and mitigate the spread of Mpox?
Answer
Answered by First Minister (Eluned Morgan)
The Welsh Government is working collaboratively with Public Health Wales (PHW), the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), other devolved governments and the NHS on preparedness to deal with any potential Mpox Clade Ib cases in the UK and reduce the risk of onward transmission.
The Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care wrote to all Members of the Senedd on 23 August setting out these measures.
More information about the measures we have previously taken to respond to an cases of a different (clade IIb) strain of mpox are available via the Public Health Wales website at Mpox (monkeypox) - Public Health Wales (nhs.wales).
