Question
How much more is Wales expected to receive as a consequence of the announcement by the UK Government that healthcare workers will receive a pay rise, and what consideration has the Cabinet Secretary given to how to allocate any extra funds?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Finance, Constitution and Cabinet Office
Consequential funding will be confirmed as part of the Supplementary Estimates process for 2024-25. The level of consequential funding received will depend on several factors including whether the pay deal with health care workers will be funded with additional allocations, or through savings or reprioritisation within existing Whitehall departmental budgets.
Officials are working closely with HM Treasury to work through the details of the pay offer to healthcare workers in England in order to inform our own planning assumptions.
