Question
What is the Welsh Government doing to stop inappropriate charges being levied by some private parking companies?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for the Economy, Transport and North Wales
The Welsh Government is continuing its collaboration with the UK Government, which is in the process of developing a Private Parking Code of Practice. [Withdrawn] Private Parking Code of Practice - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
This code aims to regulate the practices of private parking companies, ensuring fairness for motorists. However, the code has been temporarily withdrawn for a review of the levels of private parking charges and additional fees. This review is crucial to ensure the new regulations are balanced and effectively protect consumers from unfair charges.
