Question
What systems does the Welsh Government have in place to monitor local authority spend on supply teaching staff?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Education
Under the regulatory framework and local management of schools’ arrangements, schools and governing bodies in Wales are solely responsible for ensuring sufficient and suitable staff are in place, including for cover arrangements. School budgets are un-hypothecated and local authorities and schools are responsible for managing their budgets and making decisions on staffing.
