Question
What action is the Cabinet Secretary taking to tackle domestic violence against men?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice, Trefnydd and Chief Whip
The Welsh Government is committed to ensuring that everyone, irrespective of gender, has access to timely and appropriate support when they need it, wherever they are in Wales. All victims and survivors will be supported and perpetrators will be held to account for their actions.
The Welsh Government recognises that not all victims of domestic abuse are women which is why we continue to provide funding to train professionals who come into contact with male victims, to help them identify, recognise and understand the signs displayed by men who may be experiencing domestic abuse.
The Live Fear Free helpline is available for anyone, men or women. The helpline provides information, signposting, advice and referrals.
The Welsh Government also provides funding to the Safer Wales Dyn Project which protects and supports all males, including Gay, Heterosexual, Bisexual and Transgender men who have experienced domestic abuse in Wales.
