Question
What assessment has the Welsh Government made of any skills shortages within the green sector, and what action is it taking to address any such shortages?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning
We are progressing the delivery of the actions identified in our Net Zero Skills Action Plan of 2023 which include introducing bespoke Green Personal Learning Accounts to help employed people upskill and reskill and a ‘net zero skills’ funding stream within our Flexible Skills Programme (FSP) to support employers upskill their staff and grow their business.
The actions also included a Net Zero Sector Skills consultation which in June saw us publish the summary of responses alongside Emission Sector Skills Summaries.
These strengthen our understanding of the skills position for each emission sector in Wales and provide a new evidence base for Welsh Government, Medr and wider stakeholders.
