Question
What discussions has the Welsh Government had with the UK Government on the possibility of the scrapping of inheritance tax relief for farmers?
Answer
Answered by Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs
Inheritance tax is a reserved matter. In March 2023, His Majesty’s Treasury issued a consultation on environmental land management taxation, including possible changes to Agricultural Property Relief (APR). My officials were engaged with their UK counterparts on this.
