Question
What assessment has the Cabinet Secretary made of the importance of upland farmers in maintaining Wales's iconic landscapes?
Answer
Answered by Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs
We continue to support upland farmers to maintain and manage the landscape through the Habitat Wales Scheme, the offer has been extended to 2025 prior to the introduction of the Sustainable Farming Scheme. By supporting the management of habitat land which includes large areas of uplands, we ensure not only the environmental and biodiversity benefits, but the landscape which is synonymous with Wales is maintained for future generations.
