Question
How is the Welsh Government working to reduce the number of people in Wales who suffer from cardiac arrests?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care
Multiple risk factors can contribute to a cardiac arrest. The most common is the presence of heart disease, which can be prevented or managed. A number of Welsh Government policies are targeted towards reducing the risk of heart disease, including those which support people to lead a healthier lifestyle, such as Healthy Weight Healthy Wales, and those dealing with the management of conditions like hypertension, such as the Quality Statements for Heart Conditions.
Our approach to supporting communities to access defibrillators is set out in the Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrest Plan.
