Question
What is the significance of a regional growth area in Future Wales: The National Plan 2040, and what special support or advantages are there for an area with this status?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning
Regional Growth Areas in Future Wales are towns which are important centres of employment, retail and leisure where further development would be appropriate.
Future Wales provides a basis for a strengthened regional planning system. When preparing or reviewing Strategic and Local Development plans for areas containing regional growth areas, local planning authorities must include policies and allocate sites for housing and employment commensurate with that role.
