Question
What steps is the Cabinet Secretary taking to promote Wales as a tourism destination ahead of the winter months?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning
Our tourism strategy, Welcome to Wales, is clear on its direction regarding the promotion of Wales as an all-year-round destination.
In the approach to autumn and winter this year, that has included comprehensive campaign activity targeting key domestic audiences via TV and digital channels. This followed a late spring and summer campaign that aimed to encourage last minute bookers to choose Wales.
From September onwards, Visit Wales’ website and social media channels have been featuring ideas and inspiration to encourage visitors to choose a break in Wales this season. Content includes places to stay, destinations to visit and a focus on hospitality and winter events.
The flagship new campaign for the Year of Croeso 2025 will start just after Christmas, across TV, streaming channels, paid digital and PR. As well as looking ahead to the whole of 2025, it will also be showcasing seasonal reasons to choose Wales in the short term, to enjoy unique experiences in January and February.
