Question
Will the Cabinet Secretary provide more details on how residents affected by Storm Bert can apply for the £1,000 and £500 support grants announced by the Welsh Government?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Housing and Local Government
We recognise there are many immediate practical needs for people in such awful circumstances. We therefore will be funding eligible local authorities to provide grants of £500 to affected households insured, with £1000 for those without insurance.
People whose homes have been flooded should approach their local council in the first instance.
People whose home was flooded following Storm Bert, and who are in financial crisis with no other means of support, may also be eligible for our Emergency Assistance Payment through our Discretionary Assistance Fund. Details of that have been shared on our Welsh Government social media channels.
