Question
Given that Transport for Wales expanding its rolling stock, how does the Welsh Government plan to offset the projected nearly 40 per cent increase in carbon emissions from these projects in the coming years?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Transport and North Wales
We are investing £800m to deliver a fleet of modern trains that will enable cleaner, faster and more efficient travel. This includes both hybrid and fully electric trains, enabled by our over £1bn investment to upgrade and electrify the Core Valley Lines.
By expanding our fleet and delivering additional services, we are providing increased capacity to encourage modal shift and help reduce Wales’ transport carbon emissions.
