Question
What is the Welsh Government’s long-term strategy for balancing tree-planting initiatives with the need to protect prime agricultural land and support food security?
Answer
Answered by Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs
The Welsh Government has set up the Trees and Hedges Stakeholder Delivery Group which includes farming and environmental stakeholders to agree and support delivery of targets for tree planting and hedgerow creation balanced against other land use objectives.
It is our intention to support farmers to integrate additional trees and hedgerows in a way that benefits their farming business.
