Question
Will the Welsh Government set out the total cost for operating its five international offices in the USA, for each year for the past 5 years?
Answer
Answered by First Minister (Eluned Morgan)
The Welsh Government currently has 7 staff working in the United States of America split across 5 office locations. The number of staff per office is shown in the table below.
US Office
Staff
Atlanta
1
Chicago
1
Los Angeles
1
New York
1
Washington
3
Operating costs for the five offices are:
2019-20
2020-21
2021-22
2022-23
2023-24
£1,266,322
£878,625
£1,054,181
£1,031,080
£1,134,576
Individual office costs, such as rent, utilities and corporate services provided by the UK Government to our staff based in Embassies and Consulates (platform charges), cannot be broken down by office as the Welsh Government receives a single annual invoice for the whole of the Overseas Network from the FCDO. The above represents the total expenditure against the US offices, not including the platform charges.
