Question
What action is the Welsh Government taking to ensure breast screening uptake across Wales consistently reaches above the 70 per cent minimum target, and strives to meet the 80 per cent target in light of NHS England running the Help Us Help You awareness campaign to promote breast screening attendance?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care
Public Health Wales (PHW) has allocated funding for two targeted breast screening engagement projects aimed at raising awareness of screening and addressing barriers to attendance. These projects are under development and are expected to be delivered later this year. Both PHW and Breast Test Wales consistently evaluate and implement strategies to promote participation. Public Health Wales tackles inequities across all screening programmes through its Screening Engagement Team, collaborating with groups and communities to better understand and address barriers and enablers to participation in screening.
