Question
Will the Cabinet Secretary confirm whether a review of the Welsh Government’s additional learning needs legislation is taking place, and if so, when is the closing date of this review, and how individuals and organisations can contribute to it?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Education
There is currently a review of the additional learning needs legislation. I have requested evidence from the Education Tribunal Wales, local authorities, local health boards, further education institutions, early years, teaching unions, representatives of the third sector and parents. Their responses are expected by 31 March. I have updated the Senedd Children, Young People and Education Committee on the review and welcome their continued involvement.
I expect to update the Senedd on the progress and findings of the review by early July 2025.
