Question
Will the Cabinet Secretary clarify whether the £4.8 million budget for the OpenEyes project has been spent, and if so, provide a breakdown of the expenditure?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care
The Digital Eye Care Programme (DECP) aims to digitise the ophthalmology referral process and introduce Electronic Patient Record (EPR) across primary and secondary care settings.
The £4.801m funding set for DECP for 2020-21 to 2024-25 has been spent to design and develop the technology. Further funding of £0.353m for DECP has been agreed to extend the EPR contract in Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, and secure the intellectual property for the longer term.
