Question
What steps is the Cabinet Secretary taking to encourage farmers to inform their local fire and rescue service when they undertake controlled stubble burning?
Answer
Answered by Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs
The Heather and Grass Burning Code for Wales 2008 requires anyone intending to undertake a controlled burn, to notify the local fire and rescue service beforehand.
The Welsh Government, in collaboration with regional fire and rescue services, actively encourages the use of the Code to enhance safety, minimise risk to property, wildlife and the environment.
