Question
Will the Cabinet Secretary confirm how many public bus routes have been closed in Wales since 2014, broken down by year?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Transport and North Wales
Local bus services are registered, varied or cancelled with the Office of the Traffic Commissioner, who have confirmed that since 2014, 1,193 new services have been registered, 7,472 varied and 1,473 withdrawn.
It is important to note that whilst services have been withdrawn, others within the same region may have been varied to compensate by re-routing or amending existing service frequencies and overall coverage.
