Question
Are any of the period products available free of charge in line with the Period Proud Wales Action Plan free from potentially toxic chemicals such as phthalates, phenols, parabens and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS)?

As part of our ‘A Period Proud Wales Plan, we are increasing the provision of period products year on year. By 2027, 90 to 100% of the products funded by our period dignity grant will be plastic free, products with reduced plastic content, reduced plastic packaging, packaging in general or reusable.
For the financial year 2024-2025, over 93% of period products purchased through the period dignity grant were environmentally friendly.
As part of the period dignity grant, we understand local authorities do purchase chemical free products. We do not currently hold full details but have requested this information from period dignity leads in every local authority.
