Question
How many free school meals have been delivered, broken down by local authority since the roll out of universal free school meals?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Education
Nationally, we've reached a significant milestone with over 50 million meals served since the universal free school meals programme launched.
The data provided below is based on a simplified methodology using estimates of meals served, which is collected for the purpose of administering the Universal Primary Free School Meals Grant to local authorities. Therefore, this is not subject to the same level of quality assurance typically applied to official published statistics.
UPFSM Meals served by LA between September 2022 and June 2025
