Question
What targeted investment is the Welsh Government directing towards high street regeneration in rural market towns such as Narberth and Whitland?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Housing and Local Government
We support the regeneration of eligible town centres across Wales through our Transforming Towns programme. It is for local authorities to prioritise which settlements are eligible for support through Transforming Towns in discussion with Welsh Government officials. Whitland is one of Carmarthenshire’s prioritised towns but is currently being supported by the local authority’s own resources and UK Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF) funding rather than Transforming Towns. Narberth is not currently one of the Pembrokeshire towns prioritised for Transforming Towns assistance but is being supported by the local authority using SPF funding.
