Question
Will the Cabinet Secretary provide an update on the Welsh Government’s plans to support the food and drink industry?
Answer
Answered by Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs
The Welsh Government provides a wide range of support to the Food and Drink Industry ranging from support for product development, business, market and export development programmes.
The Strategic Innovation Scheme includes the Helix Programme which supports new product development, and helps businesses attain the accreditation required to trade with wholesalers and retailers. The scheme also includes the Cywain programme which supports smaller food and drink businesses.
The Trade Development programme works with food and drink businesses to access new markets and showcase their products at specific events such as the biennial international flagship Blas Cymru/Taste Wales.
