Question
What assessment has the Cabinet Secretary made of the sufficiency of NHS dental treatment provision to maintain the oral health of the population in Wales?
Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care
We want to reach a position where everyone who wants to access NHS dental care will be able to do so.
The introduction of the Dental Access Portal (DAP) in February and the proposed new dental contract – which would come into effect in 2026 and re-orientates service provision on the basis of risk and need – are the first key steps towards putting Wales in a position where we can assess the sufficiency of NHS dental provision.
