Answer
Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning
Planning and Environment Decisions Wales (PEDW) has a team of 25 Inspectors and 4 Planning Officers who are supported by an operations team, who together undertake planning and environmental casework. This includes conducting examinations of local development plans, determining planning appeals and other environmental appeals, and making recommendations to the Welsh Ministers on planning applications for developments of national significance.
PEDW currently have 376 live appeals and are working on 22 applications for developments of national significance as well as examining the Carmarthenshire Local Development Plan and other major projects including the Fishguard Harbour Revision Order and the Llyr Offshore Wind Farm. In the three months from April to June 2025, PEDW issued 345 decisions.
